Crystal & Ivy: The Story of Meeting My Soul Cat
Hello fellow cat enthusiasts! I’m Crystal from the marketing team here at Catster. You might have caught some of my musings on our social platforms or even spotted a few of my stories on our YouTube channel. Traditionally, I’ve always considered myself a dedicated dog lover, having grown up in a canine-filled home. However, everything changed when I met Ivy, my soul cat, after settling into my own place with my fiancé.
Living in an apartment complex came with its constraints, particularly a compact yard barely enough to swing a cat, let alone a dog! Considering the tight quarters and existing complaints about dogs in the area from our neighbors, I warmed up to the idea of adopting a cat instead. The quest for a feline companion wasn’t easy—convincing my fiancé took tears and perseverance. But the heart wants what it wants, and mine was set on a cat.
One glance at a Facebook post featuring Ivy, and I was smitten. She had a unique, long coat that had already attracted plenty of potential adopters. Despite the competition, I was determined. The adoption process required a video tour of our apartment, a pet approval from our complex, and an adoption fee that covered her initial medical needs like vaccinations and spaying.
After meeting all the conditions, I eagerly awaited the day I could bring Ivy home. The fear of whether we’d bond haunted me momentarily. Yet, when I picked her up post-spaying, all those fears dissolved. Ivy was immediately warm, affectionate, and visibly thankful for her new home. We quickly grew inseparable, overcoming initial worries with patience, reassurance, and, yes, plenty of treats!
Now, Ivy doesn’t just share a home with us; she shares our lives. She’s stolen the heart of my once-reluctant fiancé and has become a cherished part of our mornings. The journey hasn’t been devoid of challenges, but the connection we’ve fostered is unparalleled to any I’ve had before.
